my goal was to write every two weeks. now that i've passed the month mark, i guess i better get something up. i still have no pictures, so hopefully i'll get some pictures from leady/alejo's camera to post.
i am back in bogota after almost 5 complete weeks of travel. it has been insane the amount of travel we are doing. alejo and i went to all the locations where seeders will be living - started looking at job descriptions, talking to partners about their roles, logistical details, etc. it is exciting to see the placements - often it makes me very jealous. the communities and partner organizations have learned a lot from a first experience, as has mcc, and there's a lot more organization and concreteness. i see jobs and placements that i want to do, in these meetings i often find myself wishing i could be a seeder again.
this week we've had off because its holy week - the office is shut down all week. i got back on monday and have been hanging out, relaxing, and running errands/doing things i don't usually have time for. i'm at leady and alejo's house a lot, because i don't like living alone. i'm thinking i'll move into their house sooner rather than later...we'll see.
i miss being at home a lot during holy week - the traditions and church services are very important to me theologically. yesterday we had a service at veraguas (my church in bogota) for maundy thursday and arturo (member/pastor of congregation) was talking about how godde accepted the death of jesus and therefore that death covers all death. i think too often the church has understood the death of jesus to cover life - to pay for us, to give us life. it is not the death of jesus that gives us life, though, it is the life of jesus - the resurrection. ive been thinking about this idea, that his death covers all death, that the death of jesus means the end of all death - no violence or hatred or injustice or death is accepted anymore. girard presents this idea - i like it.
i've had a bad cough since yesterday, but am hoping to be feeling better soon. monday we're back in the office busy again and i have one week before heading out for more travels. it is all pretty crazy right now, but i just keep shooting for mid june when the seeders arrive and i'll finally be in one place for more than 10 days!
i love you all and hope to hear from you - will try to keep updates more updated. :)
