quick update. i'm tired and have to get up early for spanish class tomorrow morning. i attached a few random pictures from early weeks that i just got from erin.
last weekend was great until saturday night. i ran two miles (the altitude making it very different from an easy two-mile run at home) down to alejo and leady's house (colombian couple in the group) and played basketball with their family in a nearby park. we had a great time. it was so refreshing to be able to exercise and be outside so much of the day. they were terrible and made fun of me all day for wearing athletic clothes as they played in their jeans and dress shirts. haha...we had a wonderful time, though. back at the house, played games for awhile - they're gamers, so we get along. it was a great day. however...
saturday night i got really sick. don't know what it is/was. sunday and monday slept almost all day. in my classic stubbornness i have refused to go to the doctor, claiming i'll be better any day. i've had pretty serious diarrhea and a lot of stomach pain. getting better every day, though. i ate meals today for the first time since this weekend, which was an improvement. working on the BRAT diet to keep the food solid within me...i'm sure you don't want to know as much as i'm willing to tell you about the details of how sick i am, though, so i'll let that be.
due to the sickness, i've not moved yet. diana is in the apt, though. i dont' have a bed yet. we were donated one and i am going tomorrow with an mccer to get one and i'll move in tomorrow finally. looking forward to unpacking. today marks 4 weeks exactly that i have been gone - and living out of a suitcase. i feel like i contiue to complain about that, but i seriously can't wait to unpack.
went to mass for ash wednesday today, which was a cool experience. its a huge deal. probly 8 our of 10 people i saw all day today (outside of mcc) were crossed with ash on their forehead...i guess i just couldn't be left out. no, but it was interesting and i was glad to be there...i even knew a few of the songs, although i have no idea where i was coming up with the words. music has a way of sticking with you. must be from brownsville or the dr at some point, but i was definitely singing along with a few, yet unable to tell my friends what i was singing. a lot of talk about being ash, returning to the earth, entering a time of change and perfecting oneself.
seems to be little to say since i've been so sick and have only been laying around. i'll write more and post a few pictures of the apt. after i've moved in this weekend. miss you all. much love to each of you.
